FLR F-70 Knit review by Vadim Saveliev!

Here’s a look at my FLR Shoes F-70 Knit cycling shoes. Fresh out of the box, these clip-in shoes are designed for MTB and gravel riding. And in the second shot, you can see how they held up after a full summer season and 4,000 kilometers of riding. Sure, that’s not a massive distance, but considering the tough terrain and conditions, I’d say it was a solid test for these kicks.
The standout feature of the F-70 Knit is the upper material. “Knit” is made from ultra-durable nylon threads, forming a tight mesh that provides incredible ventilation during hot weather. While great in summer, that ventilation is also why they’ve been shelved until spring—it’s way too breezy for cold rides!

The knit upper isn’t just breathable; it’s super comfortable. It molds to your foot without bunching, pinching, or rubbing, whether you’re pedaling or walking. Don’t get me wrong—it’s not stretchy like a sock. The material is tough, doesn’t absorb water, and dries fast. Plus, it’s durable enough to withstand rocks, branches, and general abuse without tearing.

The sole uses FLR’s M250 nylon platform. It’s stiffer than entry-level touring soles but not as rigid as their carbon models. This makes it great for efficient pedaling while still absorbing shocks on rocky trails and letting you hike when needed. I’ve used these for everything from MTB and e-MTB rides to gravel and road biking, and they strike a great balance of stiffness, weight, and comfort.

Over 4,000 km, these shoes have been through a lot—hiking, river crossings, washes—and they’ve held up impressively. The Atop dial lacing system works flawlessly, even after a few scrapes against rocks. The only minor issue is some wear on the vinyl coating of the laces, but it doesn’t affect performance. The reinforced toe box has taken some hits from rocks, leaving scuffs but no major damage.
The only real weak spot is the inner heel lining, which wore through from walking, especially when wet or dirty. It’s a cosmetic issue more than anything, but a tougher material here would’ve been better.

The uppers haven’t detached from the sole—a common issue with other shoes I’ve used in the past. For someone like me, with a large size and a habit of hiking through rough terrain, this is a big win. I’ve had shoes fall apart in just a few months before, but the F-70 Knit is holding strong.
Performance-wise, these shoes are awesome. They fit like a glove, stay secure without pinching, and deliver excellent power transfer. I wear a size 47 (Euro) for my size 46 (Russian) feet, and they’re perfect for both long gravel rides and aggressive MTB trails. The adjustability on the go is a huge plus, too.

Overall, the FLR F-70 Knit shoes have been a joy to use. They’ve made me forget about my other shoes for most of the year. If you’re looking for quality cycling shoes for MTB or gravel, these are worth considering. Solid performance, great comfort, and reasonable pricing—what’s not to like?
